This website is run by Medway Council using external software produced by Tribepad. This statement applies to all candidate processes used to register and apply for a job.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- Change colors, contrast levels, and fonts using browser or device settings.
- Zoom in to 400% without the text spilling off the screen.
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software.
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver).
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
All processes are tested internally on an annual basis, using accessibility tools and assistive technology to help meet standards. Tribepad also tests with real users and requests feedback about the experience of job applicants to improve the user experience.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Medway Council is committed to helping make this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
How Accessible is this website
We are aware that some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible or could be improved for ease of use:
- Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software due to missing titles.
- The magic links login feature does not provide sufficient help or guidance.
- Some icon buttons lack readable text for screen readers.
- Focus order may be disrupted when using certain modals.
- Some page titles lack sufficient context to describe their content.
- Some layouts may appear distorted when zoomed above 200% on mobile devices.
Compliance Status
This website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
The website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA due to the non-compliances listed below.
If you encounter any accessibility issues that are not listed, please contact us.
Non-Accessible Content
We regularly test the accessibility of key user journeys representing the breadth of content on our website to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
The following content is currently non-accessible for the reasons outlined below:
- Non-Compliance with Accessibility Regulations:
- 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions (Level A)
Forms and controls must provide labels or instructions for user input. The magic links login feature lacks sufficient guidance, resulting in a poor user experience. This issue is scheduled to be resolved by March 2025. - 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A)
Link purposes must be clear from their text or context. Some icon buttons on dashboard widgets lack readable text. We plan to address this by February 2025. - 2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA)
Headings and labels must describe their topic or purpose. The current heading structure on pages like the interview selection process can cause confusion for users of assistive technology. A redesign is in progress, targeting completion by March 2025. - 1.4.4 Resize Text (Level AA)
Users must be able to resize text up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. Some content on the application summary page becomes disjointed when zoomed above 200%. This will be corrected by February 2025.
Preparation of This Accessibility Statement
This statement was prepared on January 14, 2025, and last reviewed on the same date following bug fixes.
- The website was last tested in June 2024 against WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- The next scheduled testing is in January 2025 or when new functionality is released.
- Candidate processes are tested annually or when new developments are implemented.
Testing Approach
Accessibility tests are performed manually using tools such as WebAim, WAVE, Lighthouse, and VoiceOver by our website team. Usability tests are also conducted with users who rely on assistive technologies. These tests are carried out by Tribepad.
